“It’s been an adventure. We took some casualties over the years. Things got broken. Things got lost. But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
– Anthony Bourdain
This blog is a tribute to my dad. And today being the 5-year mark of his passing, it seemed like a timely thing to finally make happen.
My dad was truly my biggest fan. Laughing with me during my amateur stand-up comedy schtick, cheering me across the finish line when doing a half-marathon, (I actually did those things!!) or just listening to me talk about the happenings of the day, my dad was there seeing me through in all my forms, my good, my bad, and my ugly. And he never relented.
Over the last few years, I have found a passion for telling people’s stories. Just everyday people that are out there doing their everyday things and making a difference in other everyday people’s lives.
So, in honor of my dad, we launch #ThatsHowieDoIt” sharing stories, laughs, poignant moments, kindness and of course a few quotes thrown in there too!
It’s my way of honoring my dad and focusing on the way he lived, not on the way he died. And I think that’s what he would want too.
We’ll start with the man himself. Many years ago, my dad gave me the gift of some writings he did of his growing up years. As expected, his words are funny, self-deprecating, and heartfelt. So I thought it would be a wonderful way to begin. And wouldn’t you know it, even from the great beyond, he’s still supporting me, cheering me on, and giving me the kick in the pants to get this thing going!!! Thank You Dad.
And thank YOU for reading my very first blog entry. If you know anyone or have ideas on people that should have a little light shined on them, please feel free to let me know.
In the meantime, enjoy the early years of Howard Moss. There are several pages, so if you can only read one, go for the last one, page 8. Because that’s where the H. Moss ‘Words of Wisdom’ are.
Until next time……’Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often’.
